Make Animated Icons
For this tutorial, I'm using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and Jasc Animation Shop 3
1. Open a new image, 49 x 49 pixels.
2. Create a background for your icon using the fill tool
and the paint brush tool
3. Open the doll you want to put on the icon and choose the background colour with the
eyedropper tool
and copy the image. Then paste
it into the icon image as a transparent selection.
Place the doll centered in the middle with the shoes on the bottom. Save the image as a .gif.
4. Next, carefully move the doll with the move tool
so that
only a bit that was showing in the last frame is now showing. Save this as another image
5. Repeat this to scroll up to the head.
6. Then add some text either on top of the doll or on the background alone.
7. To make it animated, open jasc animation shop or another animated gif program.
8. Then insert the other saved images that you made.
9. Arrange them into the order you want to show, head to toe or the opposite way. Then select all
the frames and right click and choose animation properties. Then choose repeat
animation indefinitely.
10. Then right click again and choose frame properties. Put in the number for the length each frame is
shown. You can also choose each frame separately and type in a number individually.
11. To view your icon, click the view animation button
12. Save the icon.
